Have you ever heard of the term dry steering? Dry steering is a movement where you turn the steering wheel of a car when the car is stationary. This itself is very often done in some conditions like manoeuvring in narrow areas, for example when parking.

However, dry steering is actually not recommended. Because dry steering can cause several negative impacts on the car and the Forceum tyres you use:

1. Tyres Wear Out Quickly

When doing dry steering, the tyres will be forcibly dragged and rubbed on the road surface. Friction on the tyres is normal, but the friction when you do the dry steering is huge. If it is done frequently, certain areas of the tyre can wear out faster.

2. Steering System Load

The steering system will be overloaded, especially in the power steering system and steering rack. If the steering system continues to experience excess load, there can be damage such as a leaky steering rack if you use a hydraulic system.

It is for these two main reasons that dry steering should be prevented and minimised. Is it still okay? If you have to, it's perfectly fine. However, this should be avoided as much as possible so that the Forceum tyres you use are durable, and the steering system on the car is also durable.

Ketika melakukan dry steering, maka ban seakan-akan ditarik paksa dan bergesek pada permukaan jalan. Gesekan pada ban memang normal, namun gesekan dry steering sangat besar. Bila sering dilakukan, maka area tertentu pada ban bisa lebih cepat aus.

2. Beban Sistem Kemudi

Sistem kemudi akan mengalami beban berlebih, terutama pada sistem power steering dan steering rack. Jika terus menerus mengalami beban berlebih, maka bisa terjadi kerusakan seperti steering rack yang bocor jika menggunakan sistem hidrolik.

Karena dua alasan utama tersebutlah dry steering sebaiknya dicegah dan diminimalisir. Apakah masih boleh? Jika terpaksa, sah-sah saja. Namun sebaiknya hal ini dihindari sebisa mungkin agar ban Forceum yang kamu gunakan tahan lama, serta sistem kemudi pada mobil juga tahan lama.
