7 Causes of Unstable Car AC Temperature
A car’s air conditioning (AC) system does more than keep the cabin comfortable. It also helps maintain a pleasant driving environment, especially during hot weather. However, what happens when the AC starts blowing warm air or its temperature keeps fluctuating, even shortly after servicing?
Several issues can cause this problem, ranging from dirty filters and incorrect refrigerant pressure to worn-out components. Understanding the possible causes can help you identify early warning signs and determine when professional inspection is necessary.
1. A Faulty AC Compressor
The compressor plays a crucial role in circulating refrigerant throughout the AC system. When it begins to fail, the cooling performance may become inconsistent. Unusual noises from the compressor and longer cooling times can indicate a problem that requires further inspection.
2. A Dirty Cabin Air Filter
A clogged cabin air filter restricts airflow, making the AC less effective. Even when the system is running, the air coming through the vents may feel weak or insufficiently cool. Regular filter cleaning or replacement helps maintain proper airflow and cooling performance.
3. Incorrect Refrigerant Pressure or Low Refrigerant Levels
Refrigerant pressure must remain within the manufacturer's specifications for the AC system to work efficiently. Pressure that is too high or too low can affect cooling performance. Low refrigerant levels may also indicate a leak, so simply adding more refrigerant without checking the system can leave the underlying problem unresolved.
4. Restricted Airflow Around the Condenser
The condenser releases heat from the refrigerant as part of the cooling process. Dirt, debris, or damaged components can reduce its ability to dissipate heat, making the AC less effective. If the engine temperature also rises above normal, the cooling system should be inspected promptly.
5. A Damaged Condenser or Refrigerant Pipes
Leaks, blockages, or damage to the condenser and its pipes can interfere with refrigerant circulation. As a result, the AC may struggle to maintain a consistent cabin temperature, even after a recent service.
6. Loose Electrical Connections or Incorrect AC Housing Installation
Weak electrical connections can interrupt the operation of the compressor or other AC components. Meanwhile, incorrectly installed AC housing or ducts may allow cooled air to escape or disrupt airflow. These issues are worth checking if the problem appears immediately after servicing.
7. Worn-Out AC Components
Components that have reached the end of their service life may no longer perform efficiently. Regular inspections can help identify worn parts before they cause more serious problems. If the AC temperature fluctuates shortly after servicing, return to the workshop and explain when the symptoms occur. A proper diagnosis should include checking refrigerant pressure, possible leaks, airflow, electrical connections, and compressor operation rather than simply adding refrigerant.

1. Kompresor AC Bermasalah
