A decrease in the quantity of engine oil can occur in any car. Usually, the quantity of oil can decrease due to evaporation, burning, or due to a leak in the engine oil.

Forceum also suggests to always check the amount of oil in your car at certain intervals, for example, every month or 1,000 Km. This is to ensure that the amount of oil in the engine is still sufficient.

If the oil is lacking, then the engine will experience a lack of lubrication which can cause the following symptoms:

1. Hotter Engine

When the engine experiences a lack of lubrication, the engine will experience excessive friction. This friction will generate excess heat that will make the engine operate hotter than usual, sometimes even overheating.

2. The Warning Light Is On

Some cars are equipped with an oil pressure sensor. When the amount of oil is low, then the oil pressure will decrease. If it is detected that it is too low, then the oil pressure light will turn on so that the driver knows there is a problem with the car and that it will take immediate action.

3. Metal Sounds

If it is too severe, then there will be some metallic sound that appears due to the contact between the metal in the internal engine. If this sound has appeared, then most likely there has been damage to the engine.

In addition to a lack of oil, cars can also experience a lack of tire pressure due to the natural nature of the air that will come out of the tires slowly. Forceum recommends always checking the tire pressure every 2 weeks to make sure the tire pressure is at the right pressure, which is about 32-38 psi.

Penurunan kuantitas oli mesin bisa saja terjadi pada mobil apapun. Biasanya, kuantitas oli bisa menurun karena penguapan, terbakar, atau memang karena adanya kebocoran pada oli mesin.

Forceum pun menyarankan untuk selalu melakukan pengecekan jumlah oli pada interval tertentu, misalnya setiap bulan atau 1.000 Km. Hal ini untuk memastikan jumlah oli pada mesin masih cukup.

Jika oli kurang, maka mesin akan mengalami kurangnya pelumasan dan bisa menyebabkan beberapa gejala berikut:

1. Mesin Lebih Panas

Ketika mesin mengalami kekurangan lubrikasi, maka mesin akan mengalami gesekan berlebih. Gesekan ini akan menghasilkan panas berlebih yang akan membuat mesin beroperasi dengan lebih panas dari biasanya, bahkan terkadang hingga overheat.

2. Lampu Peringatan Menyala

Beberapa mobil dilengkapi dengan sensor tekanan oli. Ketika jumlah oli rendah, maka tekanan oli akan berkurang. Jika terdeteksi terlalu rendah, maka lampu tekanan oli akan menyala agar pengemudi tahu ada kendala pada mobil agar segera mengambil tindakan.

3. Suara Besi

Jika sudah terlalu parah, maka akan ada suara besi yang muncul karena adanya kontak antar besi pada internal mesin. Bila suara ini sudah muncul, maka kemungkinan besar sudah terjadi kerusakan pada mesin.

Selain kekurangan oli, mobil juga bisa mengalami kekurangan tekanan ban karena sifat natural udara yang akan keluar dari ban secara perlahan. Forceum menganjurkan untuk selalu mengecek tekanan ban setiap 2 minggu untuk memastikan tekanan ban berada pada tekanan yang pas, yaitu sekitar 32-38 psi.
